When the smoke cleared and the consequences of the explosion became clear all Kururu could say was:
“Ooops.”
Tororo pulled himself to his feet and stared at what had become of his platoon.
“What did you do to them!” he spluttered at Kururu. “You turned them into kids!”
“Won’t it be great to finally be the oldest one in the platoon?” Kururu cackled.
This sent Tororo into a rage, but before he could do anything he found himself restrained by a pair of blue arms.
“That’s enough, Tororo-dono”, came Dororo’s voice.
The other three members of the Keroro platoon still stared shell-shocked at what Garuru and the others had been reduced to.
“Garuru?” Giroro stammered, staring at the purple tadpole eying him suspiciously.
The tadpole immediately stomped up to Giroro and gave him a swift kick to the shin.
“Stop staring at me!” he cried, his hands balled into fists. “It’s embarrassing...”
With a yelp of pain Giroro stumbled backwards and landed flat on his backside. Tadpole or not, his brother could still pack a punch...or rather, kick.
Garuru the tadpole was now able to glare down at his brother again, but the edge was taken off that glare by the pooling of tears at the corners of his eyes.
“I told you to stop staring!” he cried again and scrunched his eyes closed.
Giroro chewed his lip thoughtfully, then sat up straight and gave his brother a comforting pat on the back.
“There, there”, he mumbled, blushing from the awkwardness of the situation. “I’m sure you’ll be back to normal in no-time.”
That did seem to have the desired effect as Garuru calmed down and once more opened his eyes. He then gave Giroro another kick, this time to his other leg and ran back to his platoon.
“Brat”, Giroro hissed and rubbed his aching leg.
Baby Taruru chose this moment to start wailing and a flustered looking Pururu tried to pick him up, but he turned out to be a bit too much for her small arms to carry. She looked over to the remaining adults in the room with pleading eyes.
Finally Tamama snapped out of his daze and hoisted Taruru into his arms. The baby tadpole just kept on crying, despite the cooing and baby-talk Tamama tried on him.
“Maybe I’m not doing this right”, he sighed peering down at the bundle in his arms. “Sergeant-san, do you want to try?”
Keroro first shied away, but then approached hesitantly and took Taruru into his arms.
Taruru’s crying seemed to intensify and suddenly there was a tugging on his leg. He looked down and saw Pururu looking up at him.
“I think he’s hungry!” she offered.
“Okay! Private Tamama, find something to eat!” Keroro exclaimed, one arm pointing in triumph towards the sky.
“Yes, Sergeant-san!” Tamama cried and ran off.
Dororo, who’d let Tororo go off to sulk in a corner, had observed the proceedings with some amusement. He told himself to stay close by as he was worried about what they’d try to feed the poor infant.
Suddenly he perceived that someone was watching him and when he peered over his shoulder he saw the significantly reduced Zoruru eying him thoughtfully. Hesitantly he approached Dororo.
“Are...Are you my daddy?” the tadpole asked. “Cuz’, you look a bit like me.”
Dororo blinked in surprise. Apparently there had been some unforeseen effects on the cyborg member of the Garuru platoon. He got down on one knee so he was at eye-level with Zoruru.
“I am not your daddy”, Dororo said as nicely as possible. “But, perhaps we can be friends anyway?”
Zoruru’s face brightened in what Dororo interpreted as a smile and the tadpole nodded before he ran off to the sulking Tororo.
Dororo realized that he had not been the only one thinking of interrogating Kururu when he saw Giroro stalking over and grabbing him by the neck.
“You fix this now!” Giroro growled and gave the intelligence officer a shake.
“Well, I would, but the damage to my lab is rather extensive”, Kururu stated. “It will take a while to fix.”
“So, we’re stuck like this?” Garuru asked, lower lip quivering slightly. “That sucks!”
He immediately turned around and bolted for the exit.
Giroro sighed and followed his brother outside the wreckage that was Kururu’s lab.

Giroro x Dororo ch. 3
~~~~ Chapter 3
Cool black eyes widened in shock and the gun slipped from his grasp. The weapon clattered to the floor by Giroro's feet cutting off the next little whimper. The one making the whimpering sound stiffened. The light blue Keronian turned his head and stared at up at Giroro in mute horror. The ninja's breath came in short ragged bursts as he quickly got to his feet. Dororo continued to stare at his superior. Fear and panic shot through his already shaky body followed by a surge of shame and embarrassment. The voice laughed smugly.
'See. He's found you like this and he's staring at the disappointment they
"...years passed since that incident when I turned into this. When I woke up, I was on a rampage to kill him. This hand, this face and body...I hate him.
